PRODUCTION PART APPROVAL PROCESS (PPAP)
The PPAP process's main benefit is it allows identification of weaknesses in the production process and ensures that all customer engineering and design requirements are met. It was initially developed by the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), however, PPAP has been adopted by numerous industries. PPAP’s provided by High Performance Seals may include any document specified in the PPAP manual. However, the most commonly supplied documents are:
- Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA): A document created to identify and correct problem areas prior to the part's production
- Control Plan: The step-by-step documentation of how the part is produced
- Process Flow Diagram: The control plan's visual representation
- Part Submission Warrant (PSW): A summary of the PPAP, along with the approval form
Currently, High Performance Seals can provide all levels of PPAP. The most commonly requested are Level 3 PPAP (PSW + all documentation) and Level 4 PPAP (PSW + customer specified documentation).
