Wear Guides
Wear guides are wear-resistant, resilient, thermoplastic bearings that go inside hydraulic applications to support, guide or reduce friction between the rod and cylinder body. They're especially important in applications with unavoidable heavy side loadings. As an example, over time a heavy side loading may cause normal rod bearings to become oval shaped. This oval shape could then result in poor seal performance as the clearance between the rod seal and rod shaft enlargens due to wear. Ultimately, this distortion can result in excessive fluid leakage, seal extrusion, deformation of the rod seals, and eventually seal blowout.
MOLDED WEAR GUIDE
When applications require frequent replacement, the standard tolerance guides are very effective. More
